She was warned.
She was given an explanation.
Nevertheless,
SHE PERSISTED.

In a time of unrest, this is a gathering, a platform, a positive NETWORK of unapologetic female creatives who are actively making and performing work that is revolutionary, honest, and engaging.

Persistent women make history. And HERSTORY.

This is where we collect. This is a space for communing, conversing, and CO-CREATING. This is a space where Woman and her energy is appreciated, art reigns supreme and love is the answer.

This is where WE CONNECT, in real time, in real life – before anything else.

live art; live music; good vibrations; feminine energy.

// by women, for ALL.

Starr Bar is a nightlife venue in Bushwick, Brooklyn that celebrates and supports movements for social justice. A portion of proceeds goes to support Mayday Space, a community center and organizing hub a short walk away. Both are built for schemers and dreamers to create, conspire, and celebrate together.

The 2100 Sq/Ft space features a full bar, multiple seating areas, a large dance floor, a high-quality sound system, a mounted projector, a full kitchen (food service coming soon) and works from various movement artists and campaigns on our walls. We are ½ block from the Jefferson L train and are wheelchair accessible.

We are the only nightlife venue in NYC (that we know of!) explicitly dedicated to fostering a celebratory culture of resistance and solidarity and sharing profits with local efforts for radical change.

ABOUT

We are Blunderbuss Magazine, a web magazine of arts, culture, and politics, an ordnance of fire and improvisation. What ties together these essays, stories, poems, photographs, comics, and other bits of aesthetic shrapnel is a common attitude of visceral humanism. We aim for earnest noise. We want to splash in the mud of lived experience, to battle for a radical empathy, and to provide a megaphone to howling assertions of human subjectivity.
