The Metropolitan Anarchist Coordinating Council (MACC) will be holding another general assembly on Friday, February 10th, beginning at 7 PM at Mayday Space – Great Hall.
In the aftermath of DisruptJ20 there’s a great deal to discuss! These actions brought anarchism and radical left politics into mainstream discourse, expanded our network and capacity for resistance, but also left many of our compatriots facing charges and in need of continued support (Donate Here). At this assembly we intend to discuss how we might use the momentum from DisruptJ20 to strengthen the anarchist movement in the NYC area as well as to expand its participation in the wider resistance to the ruling right-wing clique. Trump and his gang are not wasting any time prosecuting their proto-fascist agenda and we must be prepared to throw sand in the works at every opportunity.
Many of us recently found each other and built new bonds in the streets. We’re looking forward to using that energy as a source for discussion and collective imagination here at home.
Preliminary Agenda:
– Public Service Announcements
– DisruptJ20 Report backs
– Creating an “Emergency Demo/Action Group”
– Press Coordination (MACC Press Committee)
– Mutual Aid/Resource Coordination
– Proposals for Future Actions/Ongoing Resistance
MACC hosted general assemblies are open to all anarchists and those interested in working with anarchists, so please invite and share widely to help us build a movement forum in NYC. To sign up for announcements about future assemblies and organizing meetings sign up for the listserv at the bottom of the page at MACC.nyc.
An orientation will precede the assembly starting at 6:30 P.M. Anyone interested is welcome to attend the orientation, which will teach about the radical history of general assemblies around the world, horizontal decision making, and anarchist organizational models. The orientation will also include a primer on basic process. Anyone new to, or not yet comfortable with the assembly format, is encouraged to attend this orientation!
