This peaceful protest is a celebration of our diversity, our strength, and our love, a declaration that even in the darkest times, we can come together and DANCE in the face of tyranny.
Inspired by the Queer Dance Party at Mike Pence’s House by WERK for Peace and further encouraged by the Queer Rage(r) in Philadelphia, we would like to continue the tradition of dance party protests.
We are enraged, we are heartbroken, we are afraid. But that is why we FIGHT.
We stand united against homophobia, transphobia, ableism, racism, sexism, Islamophobia, and anti-semitism. We reject Trump’s tirade of hatred and bigotry. We envision a brighter future.
Want to join the resistance? All you have to do is show up and DANCE!!
We intend to create a safe(r) space for all LGBTQIA+ folks; people of color, people with disabilities, and all faiths. There will be a zero tolerance policy for discrimination of any kind. This is a defiant celebration of LOVE and all things LGBTQIA+, so bring your rainbows, sparkles, and rave gear, and party down with us on the streets of New York. We’ll bring the beats, you bring your beautiful selves!!
Note on Accessibility: This event will be wheelchair accessible and as accessible to as many disabled folks as possible. If you cannot dance or need to take frequent breaks, you are still welcome.
Note for non-LGBTQIA+ folks: You may attend if you are committed to helping maintain this space for LGBTQIA+ folks. Please also consider volunteering to help and keep an eye out for harassment so that the rest of us can focus on dancing.
