Meetings
General Anti-Trump

today we did a lot of method acting and left a lot of voicemail messages. Continuing next month…

Feelings, phones, computers, and snacks to share welcome.

From the network:

SOLIDARITY SUNDAYS (SolSun) is an inclusive, action-oriented, virtual + real life activist group. Our focus is a series of monthly house parties dedicated to empowering people to take anti-racist, feminist, progressive political action. We have political discussions, write letters, make phone calls, send emails, & amplify the actions of existing organizations fighting for justice, equity & peace.

This is a structure within which individuals can make phone calls & write letters to elected representatives; bring in guest speakers; organize, educate, & empower on nationwide & hyper-local issues. Attendees get contact info & sample scripts to make the process of contacting elected officials easy.

In January, we Just say NO to Trump’s ENTIRE CABINET! Come get a Civics lesson as well (who ARE the nominees? who IS on the nominating committees? what actually IS a Senate nominating committee?)!

Here is the updated script: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kHNq0SnepweYb3RkrQTer5lOdpIP4PUF8-dexCc3vxY/edit

From racist Jeff Sessions to Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson to Climate Change denier #1 Scott Pruitt, Trump’s cabinet nominees are all dangerous swamp garbage. We know that the GOP holds the majority, and that blocking confirmations is yet another long shot—but we still need to make noise.

Many of these appointees could directly affect our local neighborhood and NYC in general, so we will be discussing many concerns from our EPA governed Superfund sites to possible Muslim registries.

Please bring:
-Laptops + chargers
-Cell phone

Thanks, Jäck, for hosting!

ABOUT

We are Blunderbuss Magazine, a web magazine of arts, culture, and politics, an ordnance of fire and improvisation. What ties together these essays, stories, poems, photographs, comics, and other bits of aesthetic shrapnel is a common attitude of visceral humanism. We aim for earnest noise. We want to splash in the mud of lived experience, to battle for a radical empathy, and to provide a megaphone to howling assertions of human subjectivity.
