Gentrification Local Politics Policing

Join us, Why Accountability, El Grito de Sunset Park, Brooklyn Anti-Gentrification Network (BAN), Police Reform Organizing Project, El Barrio Unite, ANSWER Coalition and Youth Against Displacement to protest the Mayor’s annual State of the City speech (plus the city officials who’ll be attending the speech that night).

Mayor Bill de Blasio’s continued commitment to Broken Windows policing hurts communities of color everyday, putting immigrants at risk. His housing agenda doesn’t protect gentrification–it fuels it.

We want REAL investments into our neighborhoods instead of a police state. We want an end to Broken Windows.

We want housing that will benefit poor and working class families–not BDB’s developer donors. We want a full stop to the Mayor’s ‘Affordable Housing’ scam.

***This is not for groups/organizations that are friendly with the Mayor and the City Council.***

It’s time to #ResistDeBlasio and the city’s sellout political establishment.

ABOUT

We are Blunderbuss Magazine, a web magazine of arts, culture, and politics, an ordnance of fire and improvisation. What ties together these essays, stories, poems, photographs, comics, and other bits of aesthetic shrapnel is a common attitude of visceral humanism. We aim for earnest noise. We want to splash in the mud of lived experience, to battle for a radical empathy, and to provide a megaphone to howling assertions of human subjectivity.
