Immigration

The spree of ICE raids in our city and across the country are a reminder to all of us that our immigrant neighbors will be separated unless we stand up and demand that our elected officials protect us through legislation like the NY Liberty Act (NY sanctuary state bill).

Join Sunset Park families for a rally outside of Community Board 7 to demand that Senator Jesse Hamilton protect our families through legislation. Senator Hamilton will be hosting a town hall inside of the Community Board 7 building. We will be rallying outside in large numbers to let him know that we’re here for our immigrant neighbors and need him to represent all of us (documented or not) in Albany.

The NY Liberty Act just passed the New York State Assembly, but the State Republicans are blocking it from a vote. Senator Jesse Hamilton’s agreement to caucus with the Republicans through the Independent Democratic Conference (IDC) is preventing legislation from passing that will protect our undocumented families.

Senator Hamilton will tell us he joined the IDC to get progressive legislation passed. If that’s the case we need to see him fight the Republicans he caucuses with for a vote on the NY Liberty Bill and the DREAM Act. We want the representation we voted for!!!

ABOUT

We are Blunderbuss Magazine, a web magazine of arts, culture, and politics, an ordnance of fire and improvisation. What ties together these essays, stories, poems, photographs, comics, and other bits of aesthetic shrapnel is a common attitude of visceral humanism. We aim for earnest noise. We want to splash in the mud of lived experience, to battle for a radical empathy, and to provide a megaphone to howling assertions of human subjectivity.
