Let’s raise a little hell.
With hundreds of thousands of protestors descending on Washington this weekend, we’ve decided to put together a special DC edition of our resistance calendar. We encourage you to find some protest actions that suit your taste and join the ruckus in our nation’s capital. It’s all of our responsibility to put authoritarianism on the defensive from the word go. As with our regular NYC resistance calendar, this list isn’t exhaustive. Hopefully, though, it’ll help you maximize your hell-raising. Event descriptions are written by their organizers and sometimes trimmed for length.

Protest the Fascist Alt-Right “Deploraball”
Time: Thurs. 1/19, 7:30pm – 10:00pm
Location: National Press Club, 529 14th St. NW, Washington
[link]
Will we let white supremacists, rape-culture sexists, and fascists celebrate hate in our city? Absolutely not. When these people gather to promote their truly deplorable ways, we will protest. Members of the Alt Reich are having a fancy ball, taking a smarmy victory lap through our DC streets to celebrate their sexual assaulter in chief, Donald Trump.
We are outraged that this group, the worst of the worst, is being hosted by the National Press Club. These deplorables have demonstrated they care nothing for truth, will harass and abuse to get their way, and wait for Donald Trump to come down hard on immigrants, Muslims, people of color, women, and the left.
We must stand for a world of diversity and equity. We must stand for a world based on love and justice, not fear. We must stand for a celebration of each other’s differences, not segregation and ignorance.

J20 Resist Convergence and March to the White House
Time: Fri. 1/20, 6:00am – 3:00pm
Location: Union Station, 50 Massachusetts Ave. NE, Washington
[link]
Join the resistance to the racist, sexist billionaire President Trump! Thousands will be gathering in front of Union Station for a massive march against Trump on Inauguration Day.
On January 20th, hundreds of thousands of people will be storming the streets across the US against Trump’s accelerated assault on migrants, LGBTQ people, women, unions, people of color, and the entire working class.
Now more than ever, we need massive resistance in the streets to shut down Trump’s agenda of racism, sexism, migrant-bashing, cutbacks and war. With capitalism in decline, this agenda can be a recipe for fascism.
6 am: Convergence in front of Union Station
10 am: MARCH ON THE WHITE HOUSE
Qockblockade: Queer Resistance on J20
Time: Fri. 1/20, 6:30am – 11:00am
Location: McPherson Square, 15th and Kent St. NW, Washington
[link]
Come join the qockblockade brigade as we hold a queer anti-Inauguration party at a security checkpoint! In the face of threats to our safety and our rights, we want to remind Inauguration attendees, as well as the world, that we’re here, we’re queer, and we’re not going away.
Come dance, hold a banner, or participate however you’d like! Bring your glitter, rainbow flags, face paint, angel wings – bring it all! (although don’t bring any of the prohibited items, found here: http://bit.ly/2jx7TLt). Please don’t come empty-handed: the least you can do is bring a friend!
Even though we’re taking over a security checkpoint, we’re there to have a good time – have fun, dance, celebrate our queer identities – no matter how anyone else reacts. This is NOT a space to instigate, and we will not be trying to provoke arrest.
To make sure you can make it out to celebrate the queerdom, check out this link on road closures and transportation options: http://wtop.com/
We will see y’all in the streets!
Labor Direct Action at Disrupt J20
Time: Fri. 1/20, 7:00am – 10:00am
Location: TBA
[link]
DC-area labor union members, leaders, organizers, and staff are mobilizing to take direct action as part of DisruptJ20 activities. We’re calling on all union members – wherever you’re from – to join us!
The labor direct action crew is planning an early morning direct action on January 20. We will meet near our checkpoint near Union Station (exact location released Fri morning) at 7:00 a.m.. This action will include blockading a designated Inauguration entry point. In coordination with other DisruptJ20 allies, our goal is to make loud and clear that our labor unions will resist Trump’s war on workers and will not be co-opted to carry out his awful agenda.
To join the labor direct action group, DM us on our page: http://www.facebook.com/
Interested in being involved after the direct action? We’re doing that, too. Check out the labor contingent at the Festival of Resistance march: https://www.facebook.com/
Movement for Black Lives Resistance at the Inauguration
Time: Fri. 1/20, 7:00am – 11:00am
Location: Washington Metropolitan Police Department, 300 Indiana Ave. NW, Washington
[link]
Just four days after MLK Day, we’ll witness the inauguration of a President who is the antithesis of everything Dr. King stood for; a demagogue who galvanized millions by spewing hate and promising to harm the most vulnerable in this nation.
Join Black Lives Matter DC, Baltimore BLOC, and the Movement for Black Lives (M4BL) as we show our comittment to an unwavering campaign of resistance of aTrump presidency that threatens numerous vulnerable communities. In DC, Baltimore and surrunding areas, these communities will be living this reality, every second of every day, at ground zero.
The threats of mass deportation, the dismantling of Obamacare, the registration of Muslims and the criminalization of women’s health, are loud and clear. Black people and other people of color are being targeted by vigilantes, our places of worship are being burned, our children are being attacked at school and the promise of more “law and order” policing leaves us even more vulnerable to police terror.
Meet us on the frontline, take action with us! RESIST! LET’S GET FREE!
The Future is Feminist Action
Time: Fri. 1/20, 7:00am – Noon
Location: TBA
[link]
Signalling strong and organized dissent against the incoming Trump Administration, we will gather in Washington on Friday, January, 20th, to demand a policy agenda that advances women’s rights and promotes the health, safety, and autonomy of all, regardless of gender identity, race, income, or citizenship status.
As a feminist affinity group within the #DisruptJ20 coalition, we’ve organized under the theme “The Future is Feminist” to use our bodies to disrupt the Inauguration Day events. We won’t let the open misogyny and hostility of the incoming administration go unnoticed and unchallenged. Instead, we put forward a feminist future grounded in bodily autonomy, economic justice, racial justice, and gender inclusivity.
We’re taking a stand for all those oppressed by patriarchy, especially women, trans folks, and gender non-conforming people. We are committed to centering the experience of women of color, low-income women, and those most threatened by the incoming administration’s political agenda.
Stay tuned for more information about how to get involved!

Secondary Stage: 14th St. and Pennsylvania Ave. NW
**********************
Progressive people from all over the country will be descending on Washington, D.C. on January 20, 2017 to stage a massive demonstration along Pennsylvania Avenue on Inauguration Day.
It is critically important that we keep building a larger grassroots movement against war, militarism, racism, anti-immigrant scapegoating and neoliberal capitalism’s assault against workers’ living standards and the environment.
Trade Justice Action for Inauguration
Time: Fri. 1/20, 8:00am – Noon
Location: 6th St. and I St. NW, Washington
[link]
Trade for People and Planet (a campaign of Popular Resistance) and Trade Justice Alliance are organizing a trade justice action as part of Disrupt J20. We’ll have signs and banners. You can bring your own too.
Donald Trump opposes the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and says that he will renegotiate NAFTA. However, signs indicate that his ideas for trade are not in line with principles of trade justice. We need to define trade justice!
Trade justice means climate justice, protections for workers, living wages, preservation of net neutrality, access to affordable medicines and health care, protection of small and medium sized farmers immigrant justice and more.
Sign up for the action here: https://docs.google.com/

Anti-Capitalist, Anti-Fascist Bloc
Time: Fri. 1/20, 10:00am
Location: Logan Circle, Washington
[link]
Wear all black!
We are calling for a mobile bloc opposing capitalism and fascism at the inauguration. Meet at Logan Circle at 10 am. Organize with your friends and come prepared to defend each other and everyone else who is standing up to the Trump regime.
This January 20th, thousands of people will mobilize to disrupt Trump’s inauguration, rejecting the tyranny, greed, and bigotry he represents. Many different permitted marches, blockades, and other autonomous direct actions are planned. Those who travel to DC hoping to celebrate Trump’s ascendance to power will find the inaugural ceremonies reduced to a total clusterfuck.
In this context, we call on everyone who opposes fascism and capitalism to join together and demonstrate how to prevent Trump and his cronies from implementing their program. Let’s bring a vision of a better world to Washington, DC.
Towards becoming an ungovernable force this winter.

On Jan 20th: The DisruptJ20 and Occupy Inauguration marches will leave from different parts of the city and join together for a joint march and rally to set the tone of resistance for years to come. Women’s March on Washington
Time: Sat. 1/21, 10:00am – 5:00pm
Location: Independence Ave. and 3rd St. SW, Washington
[link]
This is an INCLUSIVE march, is FREE to join and EVERYONE who supports women’s rights are welcome.
On January 21, 2017 we will unite in Washington, DC for the Women’s March on Washington. We stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families — recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country.
The rhetoric of the past election cycle has insulted, demonized, and threatened many of us–women, immigrants of all statuses, those with diverse religious faiths particularly Muslim, people who identify as LGBTQIA, Native and Indigenous people, Black and Brown people, people with disabilities, the economically impoverished and survivors of sexual assault. We are confronted with the question of how to move forward in the face of national and international concern and fear.
In the spirit of democracy and honoring the champions of human rights, dignity, and justice who have come before us, we join in diversity to show our presence in numbers too great to ignore. The Women’s March on Washington will send a bold message to our new administration on their first day in office, and to the world that women’s rights are human rights. We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us.
We support the advocacy and resistance movements that reflect our multiple and intersecting identities. We call on all defenders of human rights to join us. This march is the first step towards unifying our communities, grounded in new relationships, to create change from the grassroots level up. We will not rest until women have parity and equity at all levels of leadership in society. We work peacefully while recognizing there is no true peace without justice and equity for all. HEAR OUR VOICE.
Inaugurate the Resistance Meetup
Time: Sat. 1/21, 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Location: Hamilton Crowne Plaza Hotel, 1001 14th St. NW, Washington
[link]
On day 1 of the new administration, join Jill Stein, Kshama Sawant, Chris Hedges, Chase Iron Eyes and Tim Canova in Washington DC to discuss how the 99 percent can defeat the coming wave of right wing attacks from Trump.
Trump’s pro-billionaire agenda and plans to deport three million immigrants, undermine public sector unions, and attack healthcare are not just idle threats. Yet the neoliberal leaders of the Democratic Party cannot stop Trump now, anymore than during the election. How can we build powerful mass movements capable of decisively defeating the right and provide a real alternative for ordinary working people, immigrants, LGBTQ people and youth? Can the Democratic Party be reformed, or does the left need to build independently?
Please join us on January 21st at 5:30 pm, after the Women’s March on Washington, at the Hamilton Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown DC.
This event is part of Occupy Inauguration’s weekend of resistance, sponsored by the Green Party, Socialist Alternative, Occupy Wall Street, Movement for the 99%, and the Stein/Baraka campaign.
